Insulation solutions for old walls

Redstone Pura from Ecological Building Systems represents a significant advancement in internal wall insulation technology, offering a combination of thermal efficiency, fire safety, and moisture control. It is an ideal choice for insulating older properties.

Ecological Building Systems will introduce Redstone’s latest innovative capillary active insulation, Redstone Pura, at this year’s Architecture & Building Expo. This is a lime-based, breathable, non-combustible internal wall insulation designed for use as an internal wall insulation on traditional and solid masonry walls.

Supplied in handy 1.2m x 600mm sheets, the core materials of Pura are hydrated lime and silica sand, which boast effective insulation, breathability and moisture regulation properties. This combination allows for effective moisture management within solid masonry walls, and helps prevent issues such as mould growth and structural damage. This feature is particularly beneficial in older buildings, where maintaining wall integrity and preventing dampness are crucial.

Thanks to limes high alkalinity, Pura boards offer exceptional resistance to mould growth. With a thermal conductivity of just 0.04W/mK, Pura offers exceptional improvements in thermal efficiency without compromising breathability. For example, adding just 60mm of PURA to the inside of a 500mm stone wall will reduce the U value from 2.1W/m2K to just 0.50W/m2K.

Pura’s lightweight and easy-to-install design streamlines the application process, making it a fast and safe option for use on retrofit projects. Its adaptability to various wall types, brick, solid stone or even impervious substrates such as mass concrete, ensures that it can be used in diverse building contexts, from heritage properties and traditional farmhouses to more contemporary projects featuring mass concrete walls or impervious backgrounds.

Pura represents a significant advancement in internal wall insulation technology, offering a combination of thermal efficiency, fire safety, and moisture control. Its use of innovative materials and thoughtful design makes it an ideal choice for insulating older properties.
