Don’t Miss Out!! Industry Panel Discussions – How BIM enables digitalisation and skills

Date: 4 November 2021. Venue: RDS. Time: 8.30am for 9am start
While digitalisation of the construction process is now recognised as the way forward if we are to realise net zero energy and carbon buildings, BIM is the enabling tool that will make the transformation possible. BIM can transform traditional information processes into data that is easier analysed and shared across the AEC sector so that architects, engineers and contractors communicate on a common platform.
However, as with all new processes and technologies, there is a learning curve for those involved. Hence, this workshop will comprise a panel discussion between experts from each of the key construction disciplines who will share their experience and opinions on how BIM can best be utilised, and the various challenges posed can be met.
Moderator/facilitator will be Paul McCormack, Innovation Manager, Belfast Metropolitan College and lead on the EU BIMCert and ARISE programmes, while panel members will include Michael Curran, Chairman, CIBSE Ireland and Head of Building Services, Energy & Utilities, NUIG; Michael Early, RIAI BIM Champion and BIM Manager, DAA; Dr Avril Behan, Director & Dean, College of Engineering, TU Dublin; and Joseph Mady, founder and Managing Director, Digital Construction Technologies (DCT) and BIM Champion, CIF’s Mechanical & Electrical Contractors Association (M&ECA).
